ABSTRACT

Experience the charm of Puglia, immerse yourself in the serene beauty of the region’s most evocative and picturesque spots, including the enchanting Murgia of Trulli countryside. Explore the iconic landscapes of Puglia, renowned for its dry stone walls, centuries-old farms, and trulli – traditional rural dwellings distinguished by their distinctive conical roofs, constructed entirely without cement or mortar. During your journey you’ll taste the flavors of rustic Apulian cuisine with a hands-on cooking class and conclude your daily adventures with rejuvenating spa services at your accommodations.
Puglia Cycle Tours is a DMC founded in 2016. We are specialized in active trips on two wheels and, from 2020, also in walking trips, with the new project Puglia Hiking Tours…

  • Day 3: Conversano to Locorotondo

Leaving Conversano, bike through the lush countryside to reach Putignano (famous for hosting the European oldest carnival) and Castellana Grotte (known for it's impressive caves). It is the main karst site (limestone landscape characterized by sinkholes, sinking streams, caves, and springs) in the South Italy and we recommend a stop for a visit. Pedalling up and down hills that wind through oak forests, pastures and masserias, you reach Locorotondo, listed as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.

Let’s play a game: are you able to cover even a single stretch of the daily route without spotting a trullo? They are everywhere in the Itria Valley, located in the the very heart of Puglia. The destination for today is the UNESCO site of Alberobello, the world capital of Trulli. Here you'll enjoy a traditional cooking class and lunch in a trullo.

  • Day 6: Locorotondo to Ostuni

Today is another full immersion in the Itria Valley, a triangle whose three vertices include Locorotondo, Martina Franca and Cisternino. After having already visited the first two, today you'll venture to the third: Cisternino! You will discover another outstanding mixture between spontaneous architecture and the elegance of big churches and palaces. The last daily kilometres are a gentle and extraordinarily panoramic ride down to Ostuni. A spa afternoon awaits you at your accommodation.

Today you are going to visit two very different but both very scenic castles: “Dentice di Frasso” Castle of Carovigno and “Castello Ducale” of Ceglie Messapica. Ceglie is also considered to many as the "silent" capital of Apulian cuisine.
