These rocky plateaus hover on high canyons of white limestone carved over the millennia by the Flumendosa River and tributaries. We are at the heart of the Sardinia Blue Zone, one of the areas of the world where people live exceptionally long lives. Here you are likely to cross paths with a centenarian!
The last canyon encloses Lake Flumendosa and leads you to the Orroli village, perched on a vast plateau, it's a symbol of longevity in Sardinia. It is beautifully preserved, and worth a short visit to discover the very evolved civilization that lived here three thousand years ago.

To conclude your final day of riding, choose from three options, all memorable rides between mountains and the sea.
1) The stunning old 125 road, 2) the coastal ride of the SP17; or 3) an epic ride touching the east coast of Sardinia. All three are memorable rides between mountains and the sea.
1) The scenic "125 road" is a 70 km long ride along the west Sardinian coast. This stretch of the old national road between Cagliari and Palau is a paradise for bikers and slow cars.
2) The ride along SP17 is a fantastic coastal road, a never-ending series of ups and downs along a succession of impressive cliffs and beaches, granite hills, and ancient Spanish towers. It will be difficult to resist the temptation to stop and swim in one of the many beaches and crystal waters, such as Porto Sa Ruxi, Solanas, Torre delle Stelle, Geremeas, Mari Pintau, Cala Regina.
3) The third option is the icing on the cake, adding a stunning coastal ride between Castiadas and Villasimius with a view of Isola di Serpentara.
All three rides end with a 7 km long sandy beach in Poetto, where you'll cruise along the paved bike path along the beachfront. The arrival in Cagliari is remarkable, as you pass by the precious Molentargius Park with its huge pink flamingo colony and finish off with the last portion of the bike path that leads you along the marina right to the center of Cagliari.
