DAILY PROGRAM

  • Day 1: Arrival in Calgliari, Overnight in Arbus

    Upon your arrival in Sardinia, most likely at Cagliari airport, your local Mediterras representative will meet you and provide a transfer one-hour transfer with the bikes to Arbus.

    Enjoy a warm Sardinian welcome at your agritourism (farmhouse), where you’ll be introduced to the local culture, food, traditions and history of Sardinia.

    Once you’ve checked in, we’ll hold a briefing that covers the entire bike tour, providing day-to-day details. If time allows we'll provide a suggested warm up ride around the area. In the evening enjoy a farmhouse dinner featuring the typical cuisine of Sardinia.

  • Day 2: Costa Verde Loop

    Today you'll pedaling through Costa Verde, a prized geo-park and one of the most stunning and wild areas of Sardinia. This region has been defined by mining for centuries, and its legacy is preserved today in the regional "geo-mining park". During your bike ride, you’ll pass through ghost towns like Ingurtosu and Montevecchio that appear frozen in time. A short gravel section brings you to Piscinas, a beach that seems a desert thanks to its extensive dunes which are visible from the space.
    You’ll then follow the coastline for a nice climb surrounded by Mediterranean bushes that will lead you again to the Arbus plateau and back to your hotel.

  • Day 3: From Arbus to Portoscuso

    Today's ride will take you from the mining history of Sardinia's interior to the on to the fisherman’s culture of the the southwest coast.

    After traversing the Bidderdi pass, enjoy an awe-inspiring descent to Buggerru, one of the emblematic towns of Sardinia’s mining culture. The first climb of the day takes you toward the hilltop for a stunning panoramic view of the town, port, and beach, perfect location for a capturing a memorable souvenir photo.
    From ther you can stop by Cala Domestica beach, once a mining port and now a charming cove. Then you'll climb a few more kilometers before diving into a spectacular descent with a breathtaking sea view toward Masua. It's a rollercoaster ride until Nebida, where you can take a break at the famous walk by the sea, and another thrilling downhill brings you to Funtanamare, a beautiful beach.

    The last leg of your bike ride brings you to the industrial town of Porto Scuso, your gateway to the upcoming days by the fisherman’s traditions of South Sardinia, where you must enjoy a fresh seafood dinner.

  • Day 4: Two Island Loop Ride

    Today's ride includes the two islands of Sant’Antioco the Isle of Saint Peter, which have distinctly different histories.

    After a 30-minute ferry ride to Carloforte, on the Isle of St. Peter your bike ride will start taking in the picturesque scenery of saltpans with pink flamingos and roads overlooking the sea. For lunch we suggest you consider adding on a delectable tuna-based lunch or the Cascà – a type of couscous with fish. After your return ferry ride to Calasetta, you’ll complete the loop by cycling on the south side of the island of Sant’Antioco.

  • Day 5: From Sant'Antioco to Teulada

    The ride today takes you through the peaceful countryside of Carignano grape varietal.
    Departing from Sant’Antioco and crossing the bridge to the mainland, you'll greeted by the scenic salt works in the company of pink flamingos. Suggested stop in the charming village of Tratalias Vecchia, which revolves around the stunning Romanesque Cathedral of Santa Maria. From there the route leads you through the Sulcis countryside, where we will encounter artichoke fields and Carignano vineyards.

    The day will come to a close in Teulada for a stay at an agriturismo (holiday farm) with an option to add on a savory farmstyle Sardinian dinner.

  • Day 6: Costa del Sud

    Today's leg of your bike tour promises to be a unforgettable ride. You’ll start your ride from Teulada, heading straight towards the coast, where you’ll pedal a scenic coastal road leading you to the tourist resort of Chia. Riding this rollercoaster route, you’ll recognize some of the most renowned beaches in Sardinia, such as the Tuerredda. A photo on the beach and indulging in an ice cream treat is an absolute must!
    Beyond Chia and its famous beaches, you’ll cycle toward Pula, the area’s most significant town, where you’ll have the opportunity to marvel at the ruins of the ancient city of Nora. During the tourist season, Pula is a vibrant town with bars and restaurants, providing you with the perfect ambiance to celebrate the end of your bike tour.

  • Day 7: Cagliari

    Depart via private transfer from Pula to the heart of downtown Cagliari, Sardinia's capital city. From here, begin your ride toward the Molentargius Park, also called Saline Park. The park remains a popular destination among the locals for sports, walking, cycling, and relaxation. Surrounded by flora, fauna, and gravel roads, you will forget that the city is around you. The park is known for its urbanized flamingos, who exude confidence and elegance as they go about their daily lives, being photographed by tourists and locals.
    The ride advances towards Poetto Beach, a lively spot with colorful bars, restaurants, and entertainment throughout the year. Don’t miss the chance to take a break for a gelato or a light lunch by the beach.
    Your bike ride at Poetto ends at Marina Piccola, the city’s tourist port and its promenade. It provides a breathtaking panoramic view of the Golfo di Cagliari, with the city’s symbol, La Sella Del Diavolo, in the backdrop.
    Finally, you’ll head into Cagliari’s town center, cycling along the bike path from Poetto Beach to the historical center.

  • Day 8: Departure from Cagliari
