ABSTRACT

The Emilia Romagna Bike Tour explores Italy’s famous Food Valley through a cycling journey connecting Bologna, Parma, Modena, and the surrounding countryside landscapes shaped by centuries of culinary tradition.

This itinerary combines scenic cycling routes, historic cities, regional gastronomy, and authentic Italian culture, offering a balanced experience of history, food, nature, and relaxed riding through one of Italy’s richest culinary regions.

From the elegant porticoes of Bologna and the gastronomic heritage of Parma to the traditional balsamic vinegar culture of Modena, travellers experience Emilia Romagna through places where food, local identity, and everyday life remain deeply rooted in the territory.

The journey reveals a slower and more authentic side of northern Italy, combining rural landscapes, medieval towns, traditional food production, and panoramic cycling through the heart of Italian gastronomy.

This tour is ideal for:

  • Travellers interested in Italian gastronomy, culture, and regional traditions
  • Leisure cyclists looking for scenic and culturally immersive cycling routes
  • Couples, small groups, and FIT travellers seeking authentic food and wine experiences
  • Clients wanting a balanced mix of cycling, historic cities, and culinary discovery

DETAILS

DAILY PROGRAM

  • Highlights: The Red City and its marvelous porticoes and alleways

Check in to the centrally located hotel in Bologna, enjoy the views of the old town from the charming rooftop terrace, and get yourself situated. Bologna today is Emilia-Romagna's administrative capital and, arguably, its culinary capital too. Home to the oldest continually operating university in the world, the city boasts its rich history and long tradition in the arts and gastronomy. Bologna gave birth to the mortadella, vulgarly distorted abroad as "bologna", although the fresh, artisanal mortadella has nothing to do with processed ham! Make sure you put this culinary delight on your 'must try' list!

After meeting our staff at the starting hotel for a tour briefing and bike fitting (normally in the early afternoon), you are ready to go! We recommend getting out to explore this afternoon and check out our suggested dinner locations!

    • Accomodation: Hotel Touring*** - Bologna (or similar)
