ABSTRACT

Sardinia, an adventurer’s island, offers a diverse landscape perfect for exploration—from pristine beaches and dense forests to mountainous interiors and quaint hilltop villages. Far from just a beach haven, it’s a biker’s paradise with its sparsely populated lands offering breathtaking views and traffic-free roads, thanks to fewer cars. Spend a week biking through its rugged terrain, with over half the route dedicated to unpaved riding. Beginning in Cabras where you can explore the ancient ruins of Tharros, a Punic-Roman seaport, and marvel at the stunning white pebble beach of Is Arutas. Ideal for cyclists, the winding coastal routes provide dramatic Mediterranean views and an exhilarating ride, but the true gems are the prehistoric stone fortresses scattered across the island’s interior. Home to over 7,000 Nuraghi towers—Bronze Age castles built between 1600 and 1100 B.C.—adding an extra day to your tour allows a visit to the most renowned, Su Nuraxi in Barumini, a UNESCO World Heritage site, complete with a surrounding nuragic village.
