  • Day 1: Arrival in Reiti

    Arrival in Rieti city centre. Your bikes will be delivered to your hotel. Bike fitting and briefing. Private sightseeing of Rieti with a guide.

  • Day 2: Sanctuaries Part 1: Rieti - Fontecolombo – Greccio

    Start on the western side of the bike path that runs around the Holy Valley. Climb to the first Franciscan Sanctuary of Fontecolombo. After another flat stretch on the bike path you'll climb to the second Franciscan Sanctuaries of Greccio. Take time to admire the breathtaking views and visit the museums at each of the sanctuaries.

  • Day 3: Sanctuaries Part 2: Greccio – The lakes – Poggio Bustone

    From Greccio descend into the Nature Reserve of the “Two Lakes”, which covers the northern side of the Holy Valley with the option to follow the canal connecting the two lakes (based on the season). From here you'll climb up to the third Franciscan Sanctuary of Poggio Bustone, with a stunning view of the Holy Valley.

  • Day 4: Sanctuaries Part 3: Poggio Bustone – Cantalice – La Foresta – Rieti

    Following the path of “The Way of St Francis”, you'll reach Cantalice, perched on the mountain side. Surrounded by woods and mountains, you'll arrive at the fourth Franciscan Sanctuary of La Foresta. Enjoy a lovely ride along the riverside and end the day with a visit of the amazing “Rieti Sotterranea”, a facinating ancient underground network of tunnels, cisterns, and chambers.

  • Day 5: The Way of St Francis Part 1: Rieti – Poggio Moiano

    Today say farewell to Rieti and the Holy Valley and begin your journey towards Rome on the Way of St. Francis. The first leg takes you out of town along the Roman road “Salaria” (the way of salt), by a creek and then up the hills of Sabina, the cradle of the Roman people. You will bike through woods and olive groves, passing by beautiful villages like Ornaro, Poggio San Lorenzo and Monteleone. The day ends in Poggio Moiano, a little town in the middle of Sabina olive oil district.

  • Day 6: The Way of St Francis Part 2: Poggio Moiano – Montelibretti

    As you make your way towards Rome you'll notice the nature and landscape will gradually change; transitioning for mountainous terrain into gentler hills blanketed by vineyards and fruit groves. Today's ride ends in Montelibretti, nestled amoung the abundance of fruit orchards.

  • Day 7: The Way of St Francis Part 3: Montelibretti – Montesacro

    Today's ride will take you through a drastic change in landscape. The lush verdant and flourishing nature that accompanied you so far will give way to the classical Roman countryside with wheat fields and grazing sheep. Through the park of Marcigliana you arrive in the historic neighbourhood of Montesacro, now a lively location to explore with its numerous liberty villas and gardens.

  • Day 8: The Way of St Francis Part 4: Montesacro – San Peter’s in Rome

    Today's final leg of the tour takes you into Rome along cycling paths that run along the Aniene River and “the Blond” Tiber River, complete with stunning views of modern and ancient Rome. After reaching Castel Sant’Angelo, you follow Via della Conciliazione to Saint Peter’s Basilica where you will acquire your well-earned “Testimonium” certificate, marking your accomplished pilgrimage. Celebrate this acheivement with a visit the largest Christian church in the world.
