DAILY PROGRAM

  • Day 1: Arrive in Rome

    Arrive in Roma at your leisure, recommendations provided to explore the city on your own.

  • Day 2: Roma - Via Appia Antica - Lanuvio

    Start the morning off with a bike delivery, fitting and briefing Oliven's local representative.
    Head out of Rome on the historic Via Appia Antica, following this ancient car-free path for 10 miles, passing along 2000-year-old catacombs and the remains of ancient Roman villas.
    This ride will bring you to the Castelli Romani area, a charming retreat of hilltop villages and verdant landscapes. End the day in Lanuvio at a traditional agriturismo, which produces local wine and olive oil. Here you'll enjoy a tradional meal featuring local products and spend the night in the charming farmhouse accomodations.

  • Day 3: Lanuvio - Sermoneta

    Through landscapes of grapes and kiwi orchards continue through idyllic and lush countryside.
    On the way we recommend a visit the Valvisciolo Abbey, an ancient monastery still in operation.
    From there you continue to the cliff top town of Sermoneta sitting at an elevation of 840 feet. This evening you'll enjoy the life of an authentic medieval village dominated by nearly millennium old castle.

  • Day 4: Sermoneta - Terracina

    Today, descend towards the rural plains which in the 20th century were transformed from a marshy area to a varied and highly productive agricultural area where much of Italy's fruit is grown today, including kiwis.
    This great plains region is also famous for the production of buffalo milk mozzarella, and your route today will pass by several buffalo farms. Enjoy lovely pastoral views until you reach the seaside town of Terracina.

  • Day 5: Sermoneta - Sperlonga

    Spend the first part of the day pedaling along the coastline on your way out of Terracina. Witness the location where Roman emporer Trajan forged the Appian Way, one of the most monumental infrastructural projects associated with his reign.
    Then head inland along small roads dotted by the many greenhouses characterized by this region before heading towards one of the delightful beaches in the seaside town of Sperlonga.
